January 2012-May 2012

INTERNSHIP

During my five-month internship at the Burlington Animal Adoption Center, I had the opportunity to work closely with animals in need. My responsibilities included walking, feeding, and providing enrichment for both cats and dogs on the adoption list. Additionally, I assisted with spay and neuter surgeries for animals preparing to enter the adoption center, gaining valuable hands-on experience in animal care and welfare. This experience deepened my passion for helping animals find their forever homes.

October 2016-2022

ANIMAL HUSBANDRY

As an Animal Husbandry Technician at Duke University, I was responsible for maintaining the health and well-being of laboratory animals. My duties included changing mouse cages, providing veterinary care, and ensuring proper feeding and watering, all while adhering to strict animal care protocols.

ASSOCIATES DEGREE

I obtained my Associates in Animal Care and Management from Alamance community College in 2020. This degree is focused on small animal care to include husbandry, vet care, and nutrition.

CPR (DOG & CAT)

I was trained on how to properly perform CPR on cats and dogs through one of my small animal healthcare classes at Alamance Community College while obtaining my Associates degree.

June 2019-Present

RESEARCH TECH

As a dedicated research technician at Duke University, I focus on studying the effects of environmental exposures, particularly ozone, on the human body. My work primarily involves rodent models, and I am keenly interested in how these exposures impact asthmatic and obese patients. Through my role, I have gained valuable in animal handling, enrichment techniques, and behavioral analysis, and I am committed to expanding my knowledge in this vital area of research every day.

June 2020-Present

KENNELMAN

A kennelman at Red Mountain Fox Hounds supports the huntsman in the daily care and management of the hounds. Responsibilities include feeding and monitoring the health of the dogs, as well as helping to maintain a clean and organized kennel environment. The kennelman's commitment and teamwork are essential to the smooth operation of the kennel and the well-being of the hounds.

June 2022-Present

INDEPENDENT ANIMAL RESCUE VOLUNTEER

At Independent Animal Rescue, our volunteer work at the spay and neuter clinic is dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership and reducing the number of homeless animals. Volunteers assist with various tasks, including helping with the intake process, providing care to animals pre- and post-surgery, and educating the community about the importance of spaying and neutering. It's a rewarding experience that not only helps animals in need but also fosters a compassionate and caring environment for all involved.
